Unable to open .msg attachment

A user received a .msg attachment and when we try to open it in the email or
from a saved location, it says "unable to read item". I have tried accessing
it on a Windows XP and Windows 2000 pc. We are running Office 2000 SP3.

You can't open it if the msg-file has been created by an Outlook 2003
client. You'll need Outlook 2003 for that.
