I don't know if i have to post this problem here are in the outlook newsgroup.
Following is the problem.
We are migrating from Exchange and Windows 2000 to 2003.
Exchange 2000 SP3 installed on windows 2000 SP3, and Exchange 2003 SP2
installed on Windows 2003 Sp1.
Clients: Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003 SP2
A few weeks ago we moved a few users mailboxes, myself included, from 2000
to 2003. No problems, everything working fine.
Last weekend i installed the MS updates, released this mounth, on the
servers and the windows XP clients.
On the local network everything is working great, but users on the exchange
2003 server cannot start outlook through a vpn connection. I get the
following error:
"Cannot start outlook.Unable to open the outlook windows. The set of folders
could not be opened".
Users on the exchange 2000 server don't have any problem starting outlook
through a vpn connection.
I found the following articles:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;897716
We do have an ISA server, but with SP2, so this din't help.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822503/en-us
A colleague of mine is responsible for distributing the software, and he
uses MST files. But we don't use local .PST files. Mail stays on the exhange
server.
I tried creating a new outlook profile, but got a diffrent error:
"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The Microsoft Exchange Server
is not available. Either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange
server computer is down for maintanance."
Because i install the critical patches on the servers and on the XP clients,
i really don't know where to look for the problem.
