Unable to update or reinstall Office 2000 Pro

Upon attempting to update Office 2000 I received an error
message and I believe this part is relevant: "Windows
Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously
applied Office updates are missing from the
\Windows\Installer hidden directory on your computer. MSP
files are stored on your computer after update
installation completes because they need to be referenced
for future update operations. If the files are missing
you will not be able to apply Office updates. You may
also be unable to uninstall Office products as a result
of the same problem."

Can anyone tell me how to get around this? I have disks
to reinstall, but I cannot uninstall the program as per
above message. Thanks, Petie137

Hi Mary,
I have WinXP which already has Installer 2.0 included.
The first patch path you sent refers to this point.
The second path refers to administrators and users. I am
not an expert with this, but I have downlwd ARTSP3ff,
MAINSP3ff, SPUPD, SP3CD2ff, VBE6ff, and WINWORDff in an
attempt to get something to work. NONE of the above
patches would install and all gave me an error box
stating that the correct patch path could not be found.
This is why I think I have a registry error. Is there a
way to correct this? Thanks. Petie137
