Underline Table Cell

How can I underline the full length of a cell? The cell
will have text typed into it, but not enough to fill the
cell.

So far, I have tried a combination of underlining the text
and then entering underscores for the remainder of the
cell. However, the underline and the underscore do not
line up when the document is printed. I do not have
WordArt.

Note: I attempted to post this question last Thursday but
did not see it post to the board. We had server problems
that day. This is not intended to be a duplicate post.

Thank you,
Lee

Lee - I'm not sure whether you wanted the entire cell
(edge to edge) or most of the cell, so here are two
answers.

You want to use borders not underline. For edge to edge
or most of the cell the steps are almost identical.

From the Format menu, choose Borders and Shading.
On the Borders tab select your line style, width, color,
etc.
In the Preview diagram click the bottom border button.
If you want edge to edge, from the "Apply to" drop-down,
select Cell,
or
If you want most of the cell, select Paragraph.
Click OK.

That should do it.

Hope this helps.

Elizabeth,

Thank you. That is a significant improvement from what I
originally had. One more question: I want the text to
appear that it is on the line. I have adjusted the cell
alignment to bottom, but this still does not work. Do you
have any suggestions?

Thanks again,
Lee
