underlying macros in custom menus

Is there anyway to find the underlying macro associated with custom built
menus in Word. You can find the name associated with the macro on the menu
but there doesn't seem to be anyway to relate back to the underlying macro
associated with the menu. I have inherited a very elaborate word macro
system. Please help.
