Unexpected Server Response - Incorrect function

A

Andrew Hayes

I've just finished an install of Project Server 2003 SP2 integrated with
Windows SharePoint Services 2.0, and am now trying to get my Project
Professional 2003 SP2 to connect to the Project Server.

I have confirmed that I can access PWA using the URL
http://server1/projectserver, which redirects me to
http://server1/projectserver/Home/HomePage.asp, but if I type
http://server1/projectserver into the Project Server URL in Step 2 of the
Define Your Project of the New Project Wizard for Project Pro 2003 and click
on the Test Connection I get an Unexpected Server Response:

"The server at 'http://server1/projectserver' returned the following error
to Project.
Incorrect function."

I've seen plenty of articles to do with "The Page Cannot Be Found", "The
following file(s) have been blocked by the administrator", "Access is denied
due to server configuration", "The page cannot be displayed", "You are not
authorized to view this page", etc., but none that say "Incorrect function"...

I have no problem accessing the Admin pages for the Project Server or the
SharePoint Central Administration.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
