I lost my office 2001 disc and I am trying to install 2003. I tried to do
updates and it asked for my office 2001 disc. I tried to uninstall office
2001 but it asks for the disc. Any ideas?

We appear to be a little confused. If you really have Office 2001, not 2000,
then your computer is a Mac which, if that is the case, then how you managed
to persuade Office 2003 to install is nothing short of miraculous.

If you do have a Mac, then you'll be wanting Office 2004 and
microsoft.public.mac.office.

So I can't get rid of 2001 without A. Formatting the hard drive or B. Finding
an illegal copy due to not being able to find it anywhere and I need to
uninstall

There is a third option: Try hunting it down on the hard disk and deleting
it (program files, user settings,). Then remove it from the registry. Of
course, back up your data files before editing the registry.
