uninstalling Office 2000 completely ...

I found a thread which said to download the Office XP Toolkit, which I did.
It has a "Remove previous versions of Office" wizard.

The situation is/was this: I had Office 2K installed, but after a while,
every I start Word up, it closes, saying that it had to close. The other
programs in the suite (e.g. Excel) do not do this.

I did a "Repair". This did not help. I did an uninstall using Add/Remove.
This did not help. I downloaded the Office XP Toolkit and ran the wizard
mentioned above. This did not help.

Moreover, when the first install was done, I filled the company name in with
the company I work at (am under contract). During the install that was done
after running the XP Toolkit's removal wizard, I used my own company name in
that field (since the copy of the program is mine). But the old company name
still appears ... despite filling in my own company name during the install.
I don't know if that has any relevance.

Thanks for any insights,

Hi,

You could also check if Word remains open through the following command.

Start> Run> winword /a

Also, if you do get any error report, do we have any field that corresponds
to 'Mod Name'.
Reply back if there is any info you could get off the error message.

Thanks,

Mittu
