UNIX to paint to word

R

Rob Randall

Hi

I would like to:
printscreen in UNIX
paste into paint
select the small portion of the screen capture that I want and copy
paste into word into a frame anchored to text
annotate with text and arrows
group the graphic and annotations

When I copy from paint and paste into word, I get the subset of the screen
capture that I want, but I can't put the graphic into a frame for
annotation.

When I save from paint and insert from file into word, I can put the file
into a frame for annotation, but I get the whole screen capture,
uncropped -- and I don't know how to crop it.

There must be an easy way to do this. yes?

Thanks,
Rob

Right-click on the image and select "Show Picture Toolbar". There's a
symbol on it that kinda looks like barbed wire. Something like

Boy, I'm an artist. Anyway, that button gives you the crop tool. Get
your cursor over one of the image's control points, and click and drag
at will to crop to the desired part of the screenshot.

By the way - should you be trying to get vector graphics output from
UNIX (from a technical application, for example an EDA system) into
Word, there are ways to get them there in a scalable and editable
vector format instead of a low-resolution screenshot. My company's
commercial software can help with that, converting from a PS print file
to EMF for import into Word. See URL below for details.
