Unknown Problem With MS OfficeXP Outlook

Help... when I click on my Outlook button, instead of
Outlook opening up, a box appears stating:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other
removable disk that is not available."

It then asks me to:

"Insert the 'Microsoft Office XP Professional' disk and
click Okay.

I insert the CD from the Office XP box which results in
the following:

"The path 'Microsoft Office XP Professional' cannot be
found. Verify that you have access to this location and
try again, or try to find the installation
package 'Proret.MSI' in the folder from which you can
install the product Microsoft Office XP Professional.
When I click Okay, I then get an error code #1706.

I click Okay again which causes the installation process
to back out then I end up at the main desktop.

BUT... When I click on my Outlook tab and the installation
box appears and I quickly click on 'Cancel' the program
opens and works fine.

All my MS programs try to go through the installation
process when I open them from the desktop or shortcut
buttons.

Any suggestions on what the system is doing. I run 98
first edition, tried to download the second with no luck
when I was trying to upgrade to 2000.

When I try to use the CD's to re-install, the only thing
that will install is the 'Interactive Training' program, I
can't find the 'Setup.exe' on the CD's that will re-
install the MS OfficeXP Professional - Version 2002.
Where do I turn to fix the problem once I find out what
the problem is?

Thanks:

PS: I'm computer illiterate, although, if I uninstall,
will I loose all my addresses and other data from the
various programs I. E. Access, Outlook, Excell... in doing
so?
