unlinking subprojects

I have completed a subproject and would like to remove it from the master. I
have gone to the summary task, and selected task information and attempted to
clear the link, but it never retains it as cleared. Any suggestions?

"Retains it as cleared"? Retained and cleared just don't seem to go
together, but I think I understand what you mean, I think.

What version of Project are you using? If it is Project 2003, this was a
Problem that was resolved with the SP2 update. If you do not have that
update installed, download it from the Microsoft website and install it.
