Unnoveable Graphic

Bill Haskell

Within a text box, I have inserted .jpg pictures that I cannot move. It has the line frame and black square corners rather than the circles. The pictures can be resized, but not moved. The layout options are nonoperable. How can I change the layout so the pictures can be moved and repositioned?

Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

A Word text box is an autoshape and can be set to 'float'
(have text wrapping). Graphics within an autoshape, other
than the Office XP or Office 2003 Drawing Canvas
(Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing) can not also float within
the text box, that is the graphic is seen as just a big
text character within the text box.

You can use Format=>Picture or Format=>Text box to position
the content or insert a table into the Text box and use the
table cells to aid in positioning of various elements.

Hi, Bill,

This behaves as designed, from what I can tell. I believe that graphics
inside a text box are treated as text. A text box just has simple text
capabilities and not complex layout options.

Can you put the graphic in a separate box and then treat it independently?
Assuming we're talking about Word, what version of Word are you using?
