Unread Subfolder Items Not Reflected in Parent Folder

I'm running Outlook 2000. Unlike Outlook Express, unread
subfolder items not reflected in the parent folder.
Confirmed this from article 238017 in the knowledge base.

Do any of the newer releases of Outlook have this
functionality or are there any add-ins for Outlook 2000?
