Unreviewable Macro

I used a macro on Graham Mayor's site (simultaneously saving to two
directories) and linked it to an icon and a menu option. Then I
decided to move it out of normal.dot and make it part of a startup
template. That all worked just fine and it performs as expected.
However, I just tried to go into the macro to review the way it's
written, and Word won't let me. It says the macro is not available
for review. Huh? Why not? It's on the list; the 'edit' button is
not grayed out; and it works. Why can't I open it?

You have to haved the template open for editing in order to access the
macros it contains. (File > open > pick your template).

Hi, Jose,

You have to use the File > Open dialog to open the startup template that now
contains the macro, and that will make the project viewable. The VBA editor
will view only projects in (a) Normal.dot, (b) the template attached to an
open document, and (c) templates directly opened for editing.

Jay and Graham, thank you. I really could have sworn I had
opened the template.... I didn't test this, but could it be that
opening it from Windows Explorer does not allow editing of the
macro, while opening it from File/Open does? Seems like either
way you wind up inside Word.... In any event, it's working now,
and thanks.

If you double-clicked on it in Windows Explorer, you got a new document
based on it instead of the template itself (the default action for .dot
files is New rather than Open), but this should still have made the macros
available.
