Unwanted automatic reply in Outlook 2003

Whenever someone sends me an email Outlook automatically sends them a reply
with blank content apart from their address. Sometimes it crashes,
sometimes it doesn't. How do I stop it - or is this an Outlook feature "in
office agent"??? I also have Lotus Notes installed though I do not use it as
an email client. Could this be the source of the problem? I have tried
reinstalling several times,but it keeps doing it.
