I purchased a laptop a year ago. It came with MS Works 8.0. I also purchased
and had the store install MS Office 2003 Standard. Is either product (or
both) upgadable to Office 2007 Professional? My goal is to aquire MS Access
w/o buying the stand alone product if I can upgade the whole suite for a few
dollars more.

Hi Phil,

You can use either one of the products you mentioned as a qualifying product for purchasing an Office 2007 product suite of your
choice.
See the Pricing and Upgrades link on the left side of http://microsoft.com/office/suites for additional information.

I have Office Home & Student 2003. Can I upgrade to Office Small Business
2007 or Office Professional 2007 using the upgrade or do I need to purchase
the new version? Also, how many computers can I install Small Business or
Professional on? I have 2 laptops and one desktop. 1 runs Vista and the
other two run XP.

Thanks - Suzanne

The retail Office 2007 products can be installed on one computer and a 2nd-portable computer for use by the license holder.

The non-commercial use Office 2007 Home & Student edition allows 3 installations by a single family.

The Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition is not considered a qualifying product for upgrading to a retail Office 2007 edition.

How many computers can I load the Office Small Business on and how many for
Office Professional?

Hi Suzanne,

Both are retail editions, one computer and one portable computer both for the same user in each case.

Hi Bob

I am about to buy a Sony Vaio laptop which will have pre-installed on it
Microsoft Works 8.5.

Am I correct in thinking I can buy MS Office Small Business upgrade version
rather than the full version?

Thanks

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Yes, you are correct. MS Works will qualify for a retail MS Office 2007 upgrade edition, although if it's a new Vaio I'd expect
that MS Works would be a newer version than 8.5, in which case there's a patch to download for v9 that allows it to be recognized by
the Office upgrade edtion.
