Upgrade from Outlook Express to Outlook 2003

I have just installed Office 2003 and I can't receive emails on Outlook. I
only ever had Outlook Express before. The whole process seemed to go OK and
I was in fact able to get emails initially. Now, however, when I do the mail
test it says that I have got a connection etc but I can't get incoming emails
(as a result the test email doesn't arrive). Can anyone offer any
suggestions ?

Hi Gordon,
Set Outlook as default E-mail program.
Internet Explorer < Tools < Internet options <
Programs tap < For E-mail enter MS Outlook.
Click Apply and OK

Unfortunately this wasn't the problem. MS Outlook was already set as the
default email. You don't have any other suggestions do you ?
