Upgrading from Office 2000 to Office XP - Safest Way???

Bill

I've got a Win98SE P3/659 576M computer with MS Office 2000. I need to
upgrade to Office XP. What is the best way to do it? Should I install XP
over 2000, or should I do a complete uninstall of 2000 and then install XP?

What I want to know is, what is the most STABLE way to upgrade?

(note that I'm also upgrading FrontPage as well)

Thanks!

Hi, Bill,

I haven't seen in any newsgroup discussions that it matters one way or the
other. Office does a good job of upgrading itself. The most important
thing to keep in mind for stability's sake is to not mix different versions
of the apps in the suite, if you can avoid it.

Also, you might consider keeping your Office 2000 CDs, even after you
upgrade or uninstall, just in case. I've seen lots of situations where, for
some reason, the Windows Installer gets confused about what's installed, and
it may ask for old CDs from time to time.

Right - this is where I'm concerned. See, there doesn't seem to be a version
of Office that contains FrontPage - it's available separately. So, do I
upgrade everything but FP, and then upgrade FP later (in which case I've got
different versions mixed *during* the upgrade process).

What I'm upgrading is Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher,
and FrontPage.
