Help! - I've 'installed' SP 3.0 over 2.0 but when I run prescan, I get the
following error:
"Error: Cannot determine server status for virtual server: ..."

followed immediately by:
"Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Unable to get global configuration data.
---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x81070550): Unable to get
global configuration data.
at
Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.GetVirtualServerProperty..."Skipping
virtual server: ... Server state = NeedExtend. Most likely this virtual
server is not extended with WSS v2."

TIA

So why cant prescan access this virtual server? Any ideas?

All other virtual servers but 1 return "

You might want to repost this to the sharepoint newsgroups for a more accurate answer

Peter;
Thanks for prompt response. I posted it here cause this is where the
sharepoint support links led me. Thing is, I'm talking about the SharePoint
services that are included with Windows Server 2003, not the Sharepoint
Server product.
I will post there nontheless.
If there is another place called sharepoint newsgroups as you mention, can u
point me there?

Thanks again

I just noticed that the original post got a little jumbled. Couldnt find an
edit optione, so here's the way it should read:

on the default web site and our employee portal.

All other virtual servers return "Skipping

Then I have misinterpret your issue. You then might want to post this to the W2K3 Server newsgroup listed below. Since you are posting via that awful CDO interface copy\paste the link into your browsers address bar to access the group
