Hi,

we have a user that has a shared mailbox and inbox in outlook 2003. we are
using exchange backend.

the problem is that the user cannot forward emails from the shared inbox.

we get a message saying unauthorised. yet i have setup myself with the same
access and i can forward ok. admittedly im an admin but that shouldnt matter
using exchange should it?

i have set the user to be a delegate - with 'reviewer' status
i have set the user to share mailbox - with 'reviewer' status
i have set the user to share inbox - with 'reviewer' status

i have previously tried changing the user's status all the way upto and
including 'owner' with no success

any ideas? im stumped and he's sick of copy/pasting all the time.

Look at the address specified in the From field when composing the message.
Verify in AD U&C that the user has "Send of Behalf Of" or "Send As"
permissions on the object holding the address.

not sure what you mean by AD U&C...

all the user is doing is opening user2's inbox and trying to forward an
email to someone. this happens with any email. i cannot see "Send of Behalf
Of" or "Send As" - any ideas?

Yes, it matters very much in Exchange. Users by default do not have
permission to send as another user. You would have to go to the properties
of the mailbox account and verify that the user has the proper rights to
either send as that user or send on behalf of that user.

thanks joe, the problem is if i delegate the user from the 2nd user's machine
with editor access why can't he still do this? it specifically says this is
the area to allow others to send mail on your behalf - but doesnt seem to
work. i know it can work as we have a few PAs and secretaries that have been
using this for ages.

On the client you open AD U&C you of course need to have the Exchange
Management Tools installed in order to see the Exchange tabs. Also verify
that your view is set to Advanced in order to see the Security tab on an AD
object.
