User name attribute when installing from admin image

Hi all,

We've been installing Office from an administrative install for years. One
thing I've never been able to figure out - the user name attribute, which one
would think would be unique for each user instead defaults to a generic user
name that I specify when I set up the workstation. This means that when one
browses a file share, all files appear to be owned by the same (non) person.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this?

We're using Windows 2000 Pro (configured via sysprep and piped down to the
machines w/o any additional software) with Office 2003. We are also using
roaming profiles. Not sure if that would play into this or not.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Michael

Put "User" without the speech marks into the Administative install... or do
you mean the User Information you find for instance in word though Tools |
options and the User Information Tab?

Thanks for the reply, Brodieman. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is
- I only know that in many cases the user name that shows up as the owner of
the file when you are browsing files on the server is the name I used when
creating the desktop image (i.e., nothing to do with Office, just the default
Windows user name).

I think my problem is the same as the described in the thread "Changing the
Username", which you also replied to. Unfortunately, it's been so long since
I created the install point, I don't remember what I chose for the user name
option. If I chose a name other than User, would that cause the problem I'm
describing?
