Using accent marks in Outlook 2003

Bill

In previous versions of Outlook I was able to add accent
marks over letters when creating an email. I can still
do it in Word 2003 with a Ctrl + apostrophe then type the
letter I want the mark over. But it doesn't seem to work
in Outlook 2003. Any ideas??

Thanks

This is a feature of Word and so only works when Outlook is using Word to
edit emails. In Outlook, go to Tools, Options, and on the Mail Format tab,
make sure 'Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages' is
ticked.

You must also have your keyboard set to use US English - International as
well.

If the keyboard layout is set to US International, then the apostrophe is a
dead key. In *any* application, pressing just ' does nothing, pressing a
vowel after it produces the accented character. (Any other character
produces ' then the letter).

Pressing Ctrl+' then a vowel, which is what the poster is trying to do, is a
built in Word shortcut, and whether that is available in Word is dependant
on that setting. See 'Keyboard shortcuts for international characters' in
Word help.

Should read "whether that is available in Outlook"
on that setting. See 'Keyboard shortcuts for international characters' in
