Using Conditional Formatting with Dates

R

Richard

I would like to make certain cells change their format if
the date within them is above or below a specified value.
I have tried to do this in the normal consitional
formatting way, and understand that a date is represented
in Excel by a number, but i cannot get the formatting to
work when i actually enter the dates.

Thanks in advance

Enter the treshold date in a cell and then format the cell as general. Now
you can see what the numeric value of your date is, and use it in the
conditional formatting

Richard,

Try something like

=A1<DATE(2004,1,31)

as your formula
