Using delete and backspace keys in subject field of Outlook 2003

Hello.
I've just bought and installed Outlook 2003. Just now I noticed that keys
Delete and Backspace do not work in the subject field. When I try to use
Backspace key, the cursor goes to the message body. And when I try to use
Delete key, the text in the message body area is deleted, not the subject.

How can I solve that?
