Using Macros in a Mail Merge Data Source

A

I have a mail merge where I edit the data source directly through the main
document. I have macros that I'd like to insert in the fields of the data
source. The only function the macros perform is inserting text so I don't
have to type the same thing 10 times. I've tried to do this, but it doesn't
work. Is there another way other than editing the data source outside of the
main document?

Thank you.

I don't understand why you are doing what you are doing the way you are
doing it. Why not put the text once in the main document?

Or, if it only applies to some or the records, use and If...then Else
field.

Because the field is the plaintiff field and we're using five different
plaintiff's that all have long names. The macros I'm using are set so that
when I press Ctrl + Shift + 1, I get the entire name of the company, when I
press Ctrl + Shift + 2, I get the entire name a different company and so on.

I beleive that you should have the long names in the data source to begin
with.
