Hello Everyone,

I have a mutiuser Access database, that I have just upgraded from 2003
to 2010, I have created a custom ribbon; all was going swimmingly
until tryed opening the application on another computer. To my
frustration the ribbon seems to be individual to the machine, rather
than being attached to the database as it opened with the without my
ribbon and even when I went into customise ribbon, my customisations
were unavailable. Does anyone know if there is any way around this?

Many thanks in advance.

Is your database split into a "Backend" containing the tables, and a
"Frontend" containing the forms, reports, and code? If not, do so right away:
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/splitapp.htm has a good discussion. Each user
should get their own private copy of the frontend, which should carry the
ribbon settings with it.

Hi John,

Yes my database is split in to a front end and back end, in actual
fact it is an adp, but when another user opens the same file on a
different computer they do not get the custom ribbon. It seems in
actual fact that the ribbon is attached to the user's profile and the
computer as when I sign on a different computer the ribbon does not
show until I import it from a central location. Also when I have
imported the ribbon settings, they seem to become the default for
Access, not just the database that I am working on. I have also
noticed in a form's properties that there is still a place to put the
name of a custom ribbon, menu and toolbar; how do I create these?

I am, as always, very grateful for any hints and tips given and
therefore give my thanks in advance.

Nick

Well, I'm not well versed in ADPs or ribbon dynamics - sorry! I'd suggest you
post a new thread; in fact since this forum is no longer supported by
Microsoft and is much less active than in the past, you may do well to post in
one of the forums in my .sig.

Thanks John, I wondered why it had all gone quiet for about the last
couple of years or so
