Using trim cmd. When I type this command it does not work. When I copy this
from a old worksheet it works. Whats the trick.

What does "does not work" mean to you? Do you get an error? wrong
results? a crash?

Without more information, one can only guess - when you type, are you
typing "=" first? Is your cell formatted as Text so that XL's parser
doesn't try to interpret it as a formula?
