Using/understanding Fonts

If I use a particular font on my web site, will the
visitor to my site see my chosen font, or will it be
replaced if my chosen font is not installed on their
computer?

In other words if I use "copperplate" does one need
copperplate loaded on their computer in order to see the
font correctly? Will their computer replace copperplate
with arial or something?

If the font is not available on a viewers
computer it will be replaced by a default font.

Hi Jon,

They must have the same fonts that you have. The norm would be to include a
font list, i.e., from the one that you would like then degrade to the next
one, down to the generic type, e.g., Sans Serif

You can use any font ya want if ya do your content in a graphics editing
package...I'm using photoshop as my 'text editor' for certain parts of my
site....here is what I mean...

I don't plan on doing this for the WHOLE site mind you but just something to
kind of set the mood a little...it takes a bit more time to do it this way
but it's all about getting it the way ya want, right?

Just a transparent background with the font of your choice. Just make sure
it will fit the space you want to stick it in...
