Using Word 2003 to process HTTP response/request

Hi,
Can you tell me whether it's possible to code something that will allow Word
2003 to perform an HTTP GET and then handle the response? I want to create a
button in Word that when pressed will contact a URL and receive the HTTP
response so that the information can be manipulated (ie, display a dialog or
update information in a document)
Is this possible or do I need to create some kind of VB broker app to handle
the comms?
