Vanishing photo

Hi, I am using 98 on Windows XP. It works beautifully,
except that now I want to do a cover page for my booklet. I
insert the backgound graphic (a border around the outside
of the page), then I insert the text. No problem. Then I
try to bring in a coloured photo and everything(!) disappears.

Is it because I am using 98? Would I be okay if I upgraded?
