vary projects based on quantity of PC's to deploy?

Hi I'm new to this, so I'm not sure where to look up if this is
possible.....

Using project 2003 pro, can upgrade to 2007 pro if needed

Working on a plan(s) to deploy new PC's to 52 buildings on campus. (20-300
pc's per building)
I have created spreadsheets for the 52 different building covering the tasks
and time needed based on the # of pc's to deploy.

Is there a way to indicate that Building "A" gets 75 pc's and have it
calculate the work and duration times based on changing the units I will
deploy in building "B" with 112 PC's, or do I need to change the time listed
for each task in 52 different WBS charts....
Thanks,
Mark

That would work well....I might propose an alternate approach. Either one
will work I suppose:

1) Create an Excel list with a row for each of those 52 buildings
2) Set up each building to have a column for No. of PC's, Hours/PC, Total
Hours - so if we figure we have 100 PCs X 1hour of set up each = 100 hours
effort. Make total hours a calculated field.
3) In Project set up 52 tasks, 1 for each building (or split them up if
they're too large, etc.). In my testing, I used Fixed Unit tasks, and
assigned a Technician resource to a Units of 1.
4) Expose the Work column in the Gantt Chart
5) Select the Total Hours in Excel, find the Work entry for the appropriate
building, and right click, then paste special. Paste a text link.

Now every time you update the number of PC's in Excel, the number of hours
gets recalculated, and dropped into Project, the duration will then be
recalculated.

Upon reviewing this, I suppose you could achieve the same effect using
custom fields in MS Project. The Excel method might be a bit easier though.
