Vertical Text

Hello:

I've done some research on Google and have been unsuccessful in obtaining a
resolution so far.

A staff member sent an email to another staff member inside the
organization. The recipient reports some of the text was vertical and some
was horizontal. When the recipient replied back to the sender, same problem
(vertical and horizontal text). This problem also occured when the email was
printed.

Any suggestions as to what would cause this and how to fix it?
