Very hidden formatting

P

Phil M.

I have a list where each line is a paragraph. Scattered
throughout the document are paragraphs which start with
two hidden items (formatting codes??) such that the cursor
stays in place for two "right arrows" before moving right
normally. I've turned on everything on the View panel of
Options, but nothing is revealed.

The only clue I have is that the program treats the hidden
items as words, that is, the cursor stays in place for
two 'CONTROL right arrow's before moving right a word.

I am using macros to manipulate the list, which is how I
discovered the problem. My program version is MSWord 2002
with SP2.

Can anyone suggest what the hidden items might be or how I
can find out?

Hi Phil,

Can't tell you what they are, but can tell you that they are definitely not
formatting codes - Word does not work that way. There's a possibility that
they are field codes. If so, they would be revealed if you press Alt+F9 to
toggle on the field codes in the document.

If you want to send the document to me, I will take a look at it.

Please respond to the newsgroups for the benefit of others who may be
interested.

Hope this helps
