I attemptedd to insert video. The video box shows up and when I try to run
it, it freezes and sends an error report back to Microsoft it then closes and
recovers.

Sorry but you gotta give us at least a few details. What version of
Windows? What version of PPT? What type of video is it and where did it
come from? How are you inserting it?

I'm using windows XP and Office 2003. The video is coming from a CD-R. It is
not DVD. Another problem that may be related is that when I run a video it
opens with MS media Player on the comp screen but the video doesn't show
through my projector for presentation puprposes all you see is the skin with
a blank box. and it does show that it is riunning just no picture.

So is the problem that it doesn't work in PPT or that it doesn't work with
your projector? Again, what type of file is it? (AVI, Mpeg, Mpeg-2,
QuickTime, etc..) By the way, it is always best to copy the video to your
local hard drive (in tha same folder the presentation has been saved to)
before inserting it.

I have the same problem. I tried the recommended "Test" of the MCI and it
does not run the video. However, the videos run fine with Media player. Now
what?
