Visio formatting issues

I am working with visio flowcharts in visio professional 2k3 that were
created in older versions of visio (possibly as far back as visio 97). When
I oepn the flowchart to Edit, it changes the formatting of the fonts withing
the flowchart shape symbols.
I hate to have to re-create all of these flowcharts to keep my formatting
correct, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Will also research this issue in other avenues while waiting a response.

I understand this was done to bring Visio into line with other
applications, old versions of Visio used a different method of
referencing fonts by using a number to represent a font. This varied
from computer to computer.
If by any chance you want all the shapes to use the same font and size
then you can select all and set the font and size manually.
But that probably isn't what you want.

So it looks like I will have to go through and 'update' all my past
florcharts to replace the 'numbered' fonts, with a standard Microsoft font.
To bad there isn't a batch program that could do this.

I don't think you have much choice about this, only Microsoft could
produce a utility to do this as the recent versions of Visio will
convert from the old to the modern format internally immediately.

There is a roll your own solution - use VBA. Create some VBA code to loop
through the current directory and open all the Visio files and then do a
SaveAs. It is not very complex, there are samples of the bits and pieces you
will need at visio.mvps.org/VBA.htm. If this is more than you are
comfortable tackling, give a shout. Someone here will help out.

I'm just back from the Visio Conference, so I have a pile of things that
need attending to first.
