visio hyperlink does not execute

Cannot trigger the hyperlink to open

What kind of hyperlink are you trying to use? To a web page? A document? A
bookmark within a Word document? Another page within the same Visio drawing?
To another Visio drawing? An email address? All are possible...

Are you trying to follow the hyperlink from within Visio or from a web page
created by Visio's Save as Web Page function?

The answer to you problem is likely to depend heavily on the specifics of
what you're trying to do.

Hi Scott,
I wanted a master page (floor plan) that I could double click and get
details from another page within the same workbook. I do this with excel and
it works fine. When I do it with Visio it just brings up the edit feature.
If I right click I can scroll down choose the hyperlink. This is not
desireable as a presention

Jim,

You're correct that executing hyperlinks does require using the right-click
menu in most circumstances. There is an alternative -- you can set the
double-click behavior for any shape and use that function to to to a page. It
doesn't provide as much flexibility as hyperlinking, e.g., you can go to a
page but can't link to a specific shape on the page, nor can you set a zoom
factor as you can with a hyperlink. But it does work for simple page changes.

To set up the double-click action:
1) Right-click the desired shape
2) Select Format/Behavior...
3) Select the tab marked Double-Click
4) Click the radio button for Go To Page
5) Select the target page from the pulldown list
6) Click OK

Note that there is a checkbox just below the Go To Page radio button that
will open the target page in another Visio window, if desired.

One final thought -- you'll notice that there's a Run Macro choice just
above Go To Page. I suspect it's possible to write a macro that follows a
"real" hyperlink and then attach the macro as the shape's double-click
action, but I haven't experimented with it.

Hope this helps...
