Visio2003 missing menu bar

I'm new to Visio (Visio2003) and am using it to create workflow diagrams. I
have lost the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, etc.). I have
tried to select
menu bar in the customize - toolbars window and it is unchecked and will not
allow me to check it. Any help would be appreciated.
