Visual Basic Editor closes application on startup

Any time I try to open Visual Basic Editor, it immediately closes the program
in which I am trying to open it in. This also happens when I open a file
that requires VBA, the file never opens and the application (Excel or Word)
immediately closes. No errors are given. I have tried un-installing Office
2003 and re-installing, but it hasn't made any difference. Does anyone have
any suggestions? Thanks
