Volume Licensing question

Hello
we just purchased VL keys for office 2003 / office 2007. At the current
time I am installing office 2003 pro - is there a way to apply this VL Key so
that we don't have to re-type it in at every desktop install?

thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,

If you're installing Office 2003 from an Office Admin Installation Point as described in the procedures in the Office Resource Kit
http://office.microsoft.com/ORK2003
you enter the license key only when setting up the admin point rather than in the individual installations, as one method.

You need to edit the file Setup.ini as follows:

[Options]
; The option section is used for specifying individual Installer Properties.
;USERNAME=Customer
;COMPANYNAME=my company
;INSTALLLOCATION=C:\Program Files\MyApp
PIDKEY=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY

The last item (PIDKEY) us where you enter your VLK and then you are
done. The file should be on your Office 2003 CD (\FILES\SETUP subfolder).

If you are installing Office 2003 from a network share then first copy
the entire CD on the network and then edit the file setup.ini. If you
are going to supply the CD to individuals, then you will need to copy
the entire CD somewhere on your system, edit the said file, then burn
the complete contents on CDs
