Watermark prints a second page

John

I am using Word 2000 with Windows XP.

Have a watermark doc with text boxes inserted which include merge codes.
The file is now a merge doc.

When I use merge command on the watermark document, which is one page, it
creates a second page. No merge info just the watermark on the second page.

How do I lock the merge doc or otherwise so that it will never print a
second page?

Thank you.

A watermark by default is a graphic anchored to the header. Anything in the
header by default repeats on every page. If you don't want this "watermark"
to repeat on every page, anchor it to the text on the page instead, set to
"Behind text."

If this were something other than a merge document, I would suggest using
"Different first page" and anchoring your watermark to the First Page
Header, but I suspect you want a different "watermark" on each page.
