Hi Johnny,
With the picture selected,
you can use the brightness and contrast controls
in either the Picture toolbar or in Format=>Picture
to adjust the picture quality but if it's a watermark
then it is in the header/footer layer in Word and while
you're typing in the text entry layer anything in
the header/footer layer will be dim on screen, but
should print the way you've modified the graphic.

I appreciate the quick response, however I have clicked off the washout
button.
I have even tried it with other pictures and on both my Office XP and Office
2004, same results.
Even with the washout button checked off, the picture still dims.
