I want to create a different watermarks on the second page of my document.
Everyone keeps talking about anchoring to your header. How??

First, you'll have to have a different header on the second page. To
accomplish this, check the box for "Different first page" on the Layout tab
of Page Setup. This will give you a separate First Page Header and Header.
Then View | Header and Footer. With the header pane open, insert the desired
watermark in the First Page Header. Then click on Show Next on the Header
and Footer toolbar to get to the Header and insert the desired watermark
there. Anything you create with the header pane open will be in or anchored
to the header.

I'm assuming you already know how to create the watermark; if not, see “HOW
TO: Create a Watermark in Word 97 and in Microsoft Word 2000†at

Not working: here are my steps:

File, page setup, check different first page, view headers,
format/background/printed watermark/picture watermark. I insert the
watermark. close my header do a section next page break. turn on my header
and go to second header and select format/background/printed
watermark/picture watermark. I insert the watermark.

No, this feature can't be effectively used for watermarks that don't appear
on every page. You can use it to insert the first one, though, then delete
it from the First Page Header.

Did you ever get this work? I've read and tried all these instructions and I
still can't get a watermark on just one page. Can anyone help?

A watermark is nothing more or less than a graphic (or text), usually with
lightened color, set behind the text. You can do this for every page by
anchoring the graphic, WordArt, or text box to the page header, but you can
have it appear on a single page by anchoring it to a paragraph on the page.

I saw this note on several other questions in this thread and tried it
several times. I couldn't get it to work on a single page.

You must anchor the "watermark" to a paragraph in the document body, not the
header.
