Wave file stop button

I am using PP 2000 on a Windows 2000 system. I have numerous WAV files in
presentation that play on click. I am wanting to know if there is any way to
place a stop button on the page to stop a playing WAV file.

Not in PowerPoint 2000. You can do that in PowerPoint 2002 or 2003.

I can upgrade to a more recent version. How is the stop button inset in the
presentation on the newer versions?

You can only stop a playing WAV file in PowerPoint 2000 using VBA - you can
do it without VBA in versions 2002 and 2003.

There is a special "animation" that can be applied to sounds and they are Play,
Pause and Stop. You don't actually have to assign a button. If you set it to
work on mouse click, the first mouse click will stop the sound.

Upgrading to PowerPoint 2002 is a big leap. There are many reasons to upgrade,
but a bad time to do so is in the middle of creating a presentation on a
deadline.
