In Microsoft Word, when I want to insert a picture, I first insert a text
box, about the size and place I want the picture to be in the document, then
with the cursor in that text box, do the insert picture command. The picture
ends up sized within the presized box, of course to its own aspect ratio. I
format the text box without a border, no line. (Strange that it has to be a
"text box", as there is no text in the box, but I don't know of any similar
pre-sizable frame for pictures. If there is one, please let me know.) (Or
any other suggestions for specifying at least the approximate size and place
of a picture before inserting it.)
Otherwise, I found, if I just do the "insert picture" command, the picture
ends up WAY too large, often taking up most of the page, and a hassle to
re-size and place.
Today, when I wanted to insert a picture in a Publisher document, I tried
the same method. I inserted a text box, about the size and place I wanted
the picture to be. I placed the cursor inside that text box, and then did
the "Insert Picture" command. With Publisher, however, that didn't work at
all. The picture was not inserted in the text box. Again it was way too
large, pushed the rest of the document out of the way, and was a hassle to
re-size and place where I wanted it. The text box didn't help at all.
Any suggestions for how to do this in Publisher--to specify the size and
placement of a picture before inserting it?
