Web-based flowcharts

I am looking for confirmation that Visio Standard/Professional 2003 or Visio
Technical 2000 can allow me to generate interactive flowcharts (i.e.,
w/internal and external links) that can be used from a website.

I want to create a troubleshooting aid for resolving network outages. The
web-based flowchart would be used to help outage recovery personnel quickly
end an outage while capturing essential data for root cause later.

your question is too globabl for a definitive yes/no answer. Visio will
allow you to create flowcharts that can be saved as web pages. Visio does
allow you to include hyperlinks. With the very near term release of v2007
including v2000 in your solution might not be advisable.

Hi T,

You can create flowcharts in Visio and save them as html. Shapes can have
multiple hyperlinks, and these are preserved in the web-export.

For users of IE, the web export is extra interesting, in that you get the
options of having a pan & zoom control, a search feature, and you can see
the contents of custom properties (data fields) that are stored in shapes.
So a consumer of your web page could Ctrl+click on a flowchart shape and see
the resources and cost associated with that step. Pretty cool.

In the past Visio when Visio released Visio Technical, they also released
Visio Professional. Each was aimed at a different audiences. Technical was
aimed at architecture solutions while Professional was aimed at solutions
for the computer industry. Since the release of these two versions, there
was always a request for an upgrade from Technical to Professional and
Professional to Technical. With Visio 2003, the Technical version was
dropped and it's special content was rolled into Visio Professional. So
Visio 2003 Professional is basically a superset of Visio 2000 Technical.
