Into Word 2000 I have pasted a web page that is mostly a form with lots
of fields.

During pasting, closing, and opening the document, there is lots and
lots of processing. The hard drive goes grind, grind, grind for almost
a minute. (What is it doing??)

And each time I open it, I get the "Disable Macros/Enable Macros"
dialog box, when there are no macros in the document. There is no
macro module to delete, and the "ThisDocument" module is still empty.

PART 2 OF MYSTERY

After editing this document for several days, I suddenly noticed that
it was not doing any of the above anymore. It's perfectly normal now,
and I don't know what I did during editing to accomplish this.

Any ideas??

I have a second web page that I need to use in this way, and again it's
starting out with these problems.

Oh, got it. What fixed it was that I did an UnlinkFields on all fields
in the document. (Ctrl+Shift+F9 or Selection.fields.Unlink)

Before the UnlinkFields, each button, field, and radio button, etc. had
actually worked, as if you were running a form. Afterwards, they're
now all just images and text boxes.

(This was a happy accident -- I was only trying to unlink a few
bookmark references that had nothing to do with the pasted web page.
It's lucky I had been saving a sequential bunch of backups.)
