Hi Ed,

There is not enough information here to assist with the problem. Please provide more information and be specific.

Thank you,

Ever get a response - I'm having the same issue. Create
the search page the way it's described in the help. My
hosting company says the server extensions are installed
correctly but I et an error page when I use the Search
Page I created. Any ideas on what to do?

Thanx ..... Rick

What is the error?

If the error involves nortbots then you may have FTPd the search page to the
server, instead of using HTTP publish.

Error is:

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page
that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server
Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work
correctly if you publish this web to a web server that
has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

I did FTP it to the server because I found it didn't
exist. I've re-published the entire site multiple times
since then via Frontpage but still get the error.

Any additional thoughts?

Thanx ..... Rick

Ron,

I did use FTP because the file was not originally on the
site. I've republished the entire site using FP and
still get the error.

Any ideas?

What is the exact error? Or a link to the page?

You could try opening the live site in FrontPage and then use
Tools -> Recalculate Hyperlinks

But without actually seeing the page, or knowing what the error is
(guesswork aside) it is not easy to supply a solution.

You must publish using http:// to a FrontPage extensions enabled server.

This is the nortbots.htm error page.
The whole web was FTPd to the server, instead of using HTTP publishing.
You may need to repair the extensions on the server (ask your host to do
this), then open your local copy of the web in FrontPage, and use
File->Publish Web (or publish site if FP2003)
In the publish dialogue make sure the destination is
http://www.homesteadfinancialgroup.com/

Do NOT use FTP - forms will not work when FTPd, and the extensions will be
corrupted.

All,

Thanx for your patience w/ me but it's still not
working. I used FTP one a few weeks ago to get the
nortbots.htm file to the server because it did not exist
(the first error I was getting when I tried to use the
search function). I have been publishing w/ FP 2002 ever
since using the address
http://homesteadfinancialgroup.com. I just tried w/
http://wwww.homesteadfinancialgroup.com with no success.
My hosting company insists the server extensions are
installed correctly and I'm at my wits end. What other
functions will confirm the extensions are not installed
correctly or point them to the location of the error?
I've been able to send e-mail from the forms in the site
which I thought was a server extension as well.

Thanx again for all your help ..... Rick

Can you open the live site in FrontPage? Use File->Open Web/Site and type
in http://homesteadfinancialgroup.com

If that fails try using http://www.homesteadfinancialgroup.com

Also try adding a / to the end of the URL.

If you can open the site the extensions are probably OK.

With the site open, open the page with the faulty search component, remove
the component and save the page. Then reinsert the search component.
Save and preview in browser.

Ron,

I can open the live site in Frontpage. I deleted the
search form, saved the form and copy the search form back
into the page. Then saved it and viewed it in the
browser and got the following:

You may search our web site for all web pages containing
matching words or patterns.

[FrontPage Search Component]

Doesn't look promising. Any other ideas?

Thanx ..... Rick

How did you copy the search component?

By "reinsert the search component", I meant use the FrontPage Insert Menu
to put the search back into place.
In FP2003 that is Insert-> Web Component-> Web Search -> Current Web
Click Finish then configure the properties sheets.

If this is what you did, then I can only suggest that the extensions need to
be re-installed.
The message [FrontPage Search Component] is what you might get previewing on
a non-extended web, though I cannot reproduce it on my systems.
The insert sequence may be different on other versions of FP.

If you copied the component from another page - then I am sorry the
instructions weren't clearer, and you should try again.

Ron,

Sorry for the confusion - performed the tasks as you
suggested and still got the same result. The hosting
company insists the Server Extensions are installed
correctly, I'll insist otherwise.
