Weird behavior

I'm running Outlook 2003, and everthing has been working great. A few days,
I got slammed by some viruses, and I'm pretty sure Norton caught them all.
But here's what's happening:

Before the virus issue, when I'd send email, on the taskbar it would show me
'sending message 1 of 3', etc. Now, when I send just 1 single message, it
says 'sending 2 of 2'. I'd like to know what that 2nd message is, if it is
actually sending messages and what I can do about it.

I've checked my email server logs, and it doesn't look like a 2nd message is
being sent, but I just want to be sure.
