What are the FONTSCHEME files on my computer?

Recently had to re-install Windows XP and Office 2007 because hard drive
crashed. I searched for "fonts" on my C: drive and found several FONTSCHEME
files (e.g. SCHEME_OFFICE, SCHEME_TECHNIC, SCHEME_TREK, et al). When I tried
to open them, it said they need to be extracted. Are these "themes" ready to
use or do I need some other tool or program?
