What function do I use to strip the day of the week from [Start][Finish], etc.?

I've created a custom field with a simple formula of [Start], but
the day of the week is included in the date. What function do I need
to use to strip the day of the week off and would it be possible to
use either Text or Date data type for the custom field?

The reason I'm doing this is to pass a date back to Portfolio Server.

Format(yourstuff) is the method I'd use.

use "short date" or something similar for the output.
